• Transfer duty amendments as from 1 April 1999:
  Transfer duty if purchased by a natural person:
  • On the first R 70 000 of purchase consideration 1%
  • From R 70 000 to R 250 000 5%
  • In excess of R 250 000 8%

  No transfer duty is paid on building stands costing not more than R 30 000 and dwelling not more than R 70 000.
  Transfer duty if purchased by companies, CC's and trusts on purchase considerations: 10%.

• The Property Valuation Profession Bill and the Council for the Built Environment Bill has been published in the Government Gazette on 9th July 1999 No. 20281 - Notice No 1496 of 1999. Comments need to be submitted to Government by 6th August 1999.
