How to apply for membership of the SA Institute
of Valuers
Eligibility for Membership - 4.1.1 of the Constitution
“Any person, being of good character, reputation
and mental health, who is qualified in terms of provisions
4.1.2 and whose estate is not under sequestration,
shall be eligible for Membership.”
- Student Members
Application form to be completed in full and submitted
to the local branch of
the Institute closest to the applicant.
Any person who applies for admission as a Student
Member shall produce proof that he/she is registered
with an educational institution for such a course
approved by National Executive. (Refer to clause
4.2.6.1 of the Constitution)
Proof of registration with the SA
Council for The Property Valuers Profession is required, if applicable.
- Membership
Application form to be completed in full and submitted
to the local Branch of the Institute closest to
the applicant.
Any person applying for membership of the Institute
shall prove that he has such higher academic qualifications
and/or practical experience in the field of property
valuations as the National Executive at its discretion
deems sufficient. (Refer to clause 4.1.2 of the
Constitution)
Proof of registration with the SA Council for The
Property Valuers Profession is required, if applicable.
- Non-Resident Members
Being persons who having previously obtained any
category of membership of the Institute, who reside
outside of the borders of South Africa, and who
do not practice in South Africa.
Application needs to be made to transfer their membership
category to Non-Resident by completing the application
form with their new details and submitting it to
the General Secretary for processing.
- Affiliate
Affiliates, being persons who are members of a property
valuation association or institute with objectives
similar to those of the Institute who are based
outside of the border of South Africa, or persons
in such countries where there is no such property
valuation association or institute, who either belong
to a professional real estate body with wider objectives,
within which a significant number of its members
are involved in property valuation activity, or
have such higher academic qualifications, and or/practical
experience in the field of property valuation, as
the National Executive at its sole discretion deems
sufficient. (Refer to clause 5.1.1.2 of the Constitution)
Application
form needs to be completed in full and submitted
to the General Secretary for processing.
