The SAIV presents prizes annually to the best students in various subjects and years of study, and makes available bursaries to select students through the SAIV National Bursary Fund.
National prizes
Redhill-Adkins Prize Awarded to the student member who obtains the highest aggregate marks in Property Valuation III and Property Economics and Finance III, (DIPLOMA).
E Louis Ellenberger Prizes Awarded to the three student members at the various technical universities who obtained the highest aggregate marks in three second-year subjects, one of which must be Property Valuation II, (DIPLOMA).
Chris Smal Prize Awarded to the student who obtains the highest marks in Property and Finance 1. The student need not be a member of the Institute, (DIPLOMA).
Robin Marten Prize Fund Awarded to the University of Cape Town degree course student with the highest average end-of-year marks for the third (final) year of the BSc. degree in Property Studies and the ensuing year of the BSc. (Hons) degree in Property Studies, subject to a minimum average level of 65%.
In the event of two or more students attaining the same average mark, the student with the highest average marks for the Property Valuation courses within such two-year period will receive the prize.
Branch prizes
The KwaZulu-Natal Branch awards prizes to the best students in the following categories:
- Property Valuation 1 Prize
- Property Valuation 11 Prize
- Property Valuation 111 Prize and CB Richard Ellis Shield
- Property Economics & Finance 111 Absa Trophy
- Annual Property Award is an award given to a person or company who has contributed significantly to the property industry in Natal.
