A number of membership categories are available. Any person who applies for admission as a Student Member needs to produce proof that he/she is registered with an educational institution for such a course approved by National Executive. (Refer to clause 4.2.6.1 of the Constitution). Proof of registration with the SA Council for The Property Valuers Profession is required, if applicable. Application form should be completed in full and submitted to the local branch of the Institute closest to the applicant. Any person applying for membership of the Institute should prove that he or she has such higher academic qualifications and/or practical experience in the field of property valuations as the National Executive at its discretion deems sufficient. (Refer to clause 4.1.2 of the Constitution). Proof of registration with the SA Council for The Property Valuers Profession is required, if applicable. Application form to be completed in full and submitted to the local branch of the Institute closest to the applicant. This category is aimed at persons who, having previously obtained any category of membership of the Institute, now reside outside of the borders of South Africa, and who do not practice in South Africa. Application needs to be made to transfer their membership category to Non-Resident by completing the application form with their new details and submitting it to the General Secretary for processing. Affiliate members are members of a property valuation association or institute with objectives similar to those of the Institute based outside of the border of South Africa, or in such countries where there is no such property valuation association or institute. They may either belong to a professional real estate body with wider objectives, within which a significant number of its members are involved in property valuation activity, or have such higher academic qualifications, and or/practical experience in the field of property valuation, as the National Executive at its sole discretion deems sufficient.
